On October 21, she will be performing at The Cutting Room in New York City, as part of her “Over The Love” Tour. “I am really excited about it. I love playing in New York since I have a lot of friends and family there, and I think it is such a great city. To be able to come back and perform is so much fun,” she said.
The Over The Love tour is her first extended musical outing with her band, where she performs a chanteuse-style variety show of timeless standards that range from cabaret and jazz to classic R&B and contemporary pop. The show takes place in an intimate setting, and Willis will take the audience through a set list of personal handpicked songs, as well as a handful of original material that was written and recorded with writer and producer Linda Perry. “The tour has been fantastic. We had our fourth show yesterday, where we performed at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, which was amazing and so inspiring. It’s cool to be able to go to all to these different towns and cities,” she said.
When asked how Willis balances it all, she said, “I don’t know. It doesn’t really feel unbalanced. I’m doing what I love to do so it’s really easy to get up every morning and enjoy every day.”
She dubbed her experiences on Dancing with the Stars and Sway as “amazing.” “That really taught me a lot about tour life and how to survive on a bus,” she said.
Regarding her plans for the future, she said, “I hope to continue to do music, and hopefully to find a way to integrate dancing and acting. That would be a dream.”
For her fans, she said, “Thank you for all of the love and support. I am so grateful. I hope that I can deliver them a show that they really enjoy and love.”
She defined the word success as “Having a positive impact on somebody else’s life, whether it is emotionally or physically.”
