Wallen’s single “The Way I Talk” is in the Top 30 on the Billboard Hot Country Airplay charts, and climbing. “I was actually sent the song by some writers. When they sent it to me, I fell in love with it and I immediately told them to not let it get away,” he said.
He continued, “It’s a big blessing. Five years ago, I had never even been to Nashville and now I’m living there and now I’m having songs on country radio and I get to tour with people that I look up to. It’s really incredible, and I try to take it day by day. I try to take in every milestone that I can and realize how big of a blessing it in. I’m loving ever minute of it.”
Wallen’s five-track EP was produced by Joey Moi, who has worked with such artists as Florida Georgia Line and Chris Lane. “He’s a genius. He knows how to put every part together, and we tried really hard to make every part memorable, musically and vocally. It has been a real blast working with him. We get along really well, and we’ve actually been in the studio a couple of times working on new music, and I’m really looking forward to that,” he said.
Each day, Wallen is motivated by his love for music. “When I was growing up, I focused on baseball and I put a lot of my time in that, but after I took music more seriously that’s where all of my love went,” he said. “I try to make a better life for me and for my family. One day, hopefully, I want my parents to not have to worry about anything anymore.”
This summer, Wallen will be touring with Florida Georgia Line on their “Smooth Tour.” “We’re going to be out there with them in June, and it’s going to be fun,” he said.
Rolling Stone named him as one of “10 New Country Artists You Need to Know.” “That was pretty crazy, since Rolling Stone is a legendary magazine. That was really special to me, and I try to take in every milestone and accolade and realize how blessed I am to be doing this,” he said.
Wallen listed country singers Shania Twain and Jo Smith as his dream female duet choices in music. For his fans, he concluded, “The song is real and it’s a true reflection of me and who I am. I’m just a regular guy like everybody else.”
