article imageInterview: Judah and the Lion talks 'Going to Mars' Tour Special

By Markos Papadatos     Feb 25, 2017 in Music
New York - Judah Akers, the lead singer of the band Judah and the Lion, chatted with Digital Journal about their "Going to Mars" tour, and New York shows.
Their song "Take It All Back" reached No. 1 on the Billboard Alternative Songs charts. "That was kind of crazy. We didn't expect the warm reception that we got from radio. When it went No. 1, it happened on Christmas day, so it was a great Christmas gift."
On March 31, 2016, they headlined Gramercy Theatre in New York. "That was amazing. We love playing in New York," Judah recalled.
In January of 2017, Judah and the Lion opened for Twenty One Pilots at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, which was a thrill for the alternative band. "That was great. It was so fun and the crowd was very energetic. We had a blast," he said.
On July 19, 2017, they will be performing at the Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, along with Incubus and Jimmy Eat World. "That is awesome. We are super excited about it. We have been fans of the bands growing up, so to get that call to go on tour with them was surreal. They were our childhood favorites," he said. "Every night is going to be amazing. We will be doing a lot of new songs."
Regarding their "Going to Mars" Tour, he said, "We are going to be in Europe, where we will play in Germany and Canada. We will have a part II of the 'Going to Mars' headlining tour this fall, and we will see how that goes. We are super excited for the rest of the year."
