Interview: filous talks new song ‘Goodbye,’ future plans (Includes interview)

When asked how “Goodbye” came about, he responded, “Mat hit me up on Twitter asking if I was interested in collaborating on a song with him, and sent me the first demo version of ‘goodbye’ that he wrote. I fell in love with it and flew to Nashville to work on it in his studio – making this song with him was a very inspiring and fruitful learning experience!”

Most impressive about filous is that he plays 18 instruments in total. “I think actually knowing how to play at least one instrument is very important to be able to make music in a natural, authentic way. It gives you a lot more opportunities to express yourself musically. Some were more difficult to learn than others,” he said.

He was named “Spotlight on Artists 2016” by Spotify. “I was really excited to be picked from such a large number of amazing artists who are represented on Spotify. It really meant a lot,” he said.

On his future plans, he said, “I’m looking forward to releasing new music and hitting the road. I’m very grateful to be able to do what I do and enjoy every minute of it!”

For teenage or aspiring singer-songwriters and instrumentalists, he said, “My only advice is to not rely on other people’s advice too much, and to try to explore what feels right and trust your gut. There aren’t really any rules when it comes to making music and it’s important to keep in mind that everything is subjective. I think one very important aspect is to expand your horizon and to surround yourself with people who inspire you.”

“I’m so grateful for the endless love and support, and I’m only able to do what I do because of you,” he told his fans.
