Regarding his show at Marquee New York, Elephante said, “New York has been such a great city for me. It’s been over a year since the last time I played Marquee. It is one of my favorite venues. I’m super-excited. It will be high-energy and a lot of fun.”
He is drawn to electronic music since it is a combination of raw, physical energy and it has an emotional component to it. “It will make you feel good and it will make you sad. It is a combination of those two things,” he said.
His plans for the future are to wrap up his North American tour, which goes on until May. “I just announced a few more dates, and I have a bunch of new music that I’m really excited about releasing in the next few months,” he said.
Elephante listed “Closer” as his personal favorite song of his, which should not be confused with The Chainsmokers track of the same name. “This song has a close place to my heart since it launched this whole tour and everything that has happened to me over the last year,” he said.
For aspiring DJs and producers, he said, “Focus on your music and try to keep getting better. Know that it is a process and it is going to take a long time.”
On the future of electronic music, he said, “I think it’s at a really exciting place right now, where they are incorporating sounds from other genres. I always look at electronic music from a production standpoint. I look at the technique in the genre and it’s about using electronic sounds to create songs.”
He defined the word success as the following: “My music meaning something to people, whether it is one person or a million people.”
