Interview: Electronic duo Blasterjaxx talks new track ‘Collide’ (Includes interview)

On their new track “Collide,” they said, “Well, we made this track a long, long time ago. We made a special edit for Ultra and the fans were really enthusiastic about it, so that’s when we decided to finish the track.”

Their plans for the rest of 2017 are quite busy. “In 2017, we’ve got a lot of new music ready for you guys! We just announced our first big EP XX Files which will be released on our label Maximize Records on March 10. Show-wise, we hope we can satisfy all fans worldwide. We’ll keep working on new sets to get the ultimate Blasterjaxx experience.”

Each day, they are motivated by music, which they dubbed as their “religion.” “For both of us music is a passion and something we can’t live without. Even after a busy tour, we try to be in the studio the next morning to work on new ideas and projects.”

They had nothing but the greatest remarks for Electric Zoo: Wild Island in New York last September. “Electric Zoo was crazy! It was our first time there and definitely one of the best shows of the summer. Such an amazing crowd, great production, we stayed all the way till the end to watch The Chainsmokers and Hardwell because the vibe was so good! Really hope to be back there this year,” they said.

Last year, Blasterjaxx ranked No. 43 on the DJ Mag Top 100 DJ Poll last year. “We’re really grateful for all the support we get from our fans and their votes for us in DJ Mag,” they exclaimed.

They listed Rihanna and Hayley Williams from Paramore as their dream female collaboration choices in music. “We’re big fans of her band and it’s too bad they don’t release that much music anymore. Hayley, collab?”

For aspiring DJs and producers, they said, “These days everyone can download FL and watch tutorials online, so there is a lot of ‘’competition.’ Always try to create an own and unique sound rather than listen to a song and use that as your main idea. Besides that, keep your head up; there will be moments when you feel there is no improvement at all, but that’s the moment you should go on where the rest decided to give it up.”

They defined the word success as “something personal.” “For one, it can be becoming No. 1 in DJ Mag, for another it can be releasing music on a major label for example. For us, it is more a feeling of satisfaction. If we feel our fans are happy, good music is being released, and we are able to play nice shows, that is what success means to us,” they said.

For their fans, they concluded, “Thank you very much for your unconditional love, your support means the world to us!”
