Interview: Didi J discusses ‘Say No More,’ featuring Shaggy (Includes interview)

Her single “Say No More” was produced by Jens Gad, and it was written by Didi J with her writing team in Atlanta. “The feature with Shaggy actually came through a member on my team that works with promotions. He heard the original ‘Say No More’ and thought Shaggy would work great on it. We discussed it as a team, discussed it with Shaggy’s management, and everything worked out great! The song came out amazing, and both teams are very excited about the song,” she said.

The songstress praised her collaborator Shaggy for being amazing. “He is a very experienced and established artist, and he was able to go in the studio, write, and record in an amazingly fast amount of time,” she said.

On her future plans, she said, “My team and I are working to release a second single soon, then an EP in the U.S. They are also working to set up several performances for me to perform my new music here in the U.S. Also, since I am a fashion designer, I am working on a new collection for 2017.”

Didi J shared that filming the “Say No More” music video was amazing. “For this video, we worked with Gil Green and Michael Garcia. They are both amazing! The video was very sexy and high fashion. I love fashion and music, and everybody wanted to make sure that both the fashion and music were properly showcased in the video,” she said.

She listed Beyonce, Pitbull and Flo Rida as her dream collaboration choices. “My ultimate dream would be a collaboration with Beyonce because she is a fashion diva, a musical inspiration, and one of the artists I truly admire,” she said.

Her personal motto is “do or die.” “I have been told since I was young that no singer from the Balkans region can become a pop artist outside of that region. So, I wake each day with the motivation to prove the naysayers and haters back home wrong. I have to make this a reality, and I will not stop working towards that goal,” she said.

For her fans, she concluded, “Well, first and foremost, I would like to say ‘thank you’ for being a fan! I love you! ‘Say No More’ is a song that was written about love, dancing, and being true to one another in love. I want my fans to dance and have fun to the song, and I want them to love the song and the video as much as I do.”
