“Before I Met You” is his first release since his latest studio album, Destruction of Kings. “It’s my new single and it is a little bit different style from what I’ve done in the past,” he said. “I’ve played rock and roll music my whole life, and I loved it. A producer contacted me and we wanted to do a pop song, but I still wanted to be able to stand on stage, hold my guitar and do the rock thing.”
His musical heroes include Chris Cornell from Soundgarden, Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains. His musical style is eclectic since he draws influences from multiple genres, such as rock, Christian and pop. “I want to share my faith, and I want to do it in a way that relates to as many audiences as possible. I want to tell the story of my life through music,” he said.
Throughout his career in the music industry, six of his songs charted in the Top 30 on the Billboard Christian charts, and he has shared the stage with Fireflight, SonicFlood’s Jeff Deyo and Rapture Ruckus. “That’s awesome and a great feeling. To know that there are fans out there. You make these songs and you hope that they will do great. These songs are like your babies, and you put your heart and soul in them, and you just hope and pray that people like them,” Williams said.
In the future, he hinted that he may be doing an acoustic effort, as well as a rock project.
