Interview: Delta Rae talks Bowery Ballroom, new country single (Includes interview)

On May 22, Delta Rae will be performing at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City. “We are ready for that show,” he exclaimed. “We will have a new show with new songs and we are bringing out an extra musician with us, who is a jack of all trades that can play everything. People at the Bowery can expect us to share our unbounding love for New York City. I’m sure Liz will say that about 500 times during the show.”

Regarding the commercial success of their single, “A Long and Happy Life,” he said, “We are very excited and are so glad that people are loving it as much as we do. It is really special.”

They launched their new initiative, Tickets For Teachers, where they are offering free tickets and an on-stage acknowledgement to deserving individuals at each of their shows. “We launched this campaign and we are doing it for the whole tour. We are asking people to submit stories and to nominate themselves or teachers that have had an impact on their lives. We want them to know that we appreciate all the work that they do. Teachers have a very important job, and they work very hard. This campaign is nice since people are sharing all of these wonderful stories with us, which are just beautiful,” he said.

He listed Bonnie Raitt, Gwen Stefani and Dolly Parton as his dream female collaboration choices. “I love Gwen Stefani’s energy. She is so cool,” he said.

For their New York fans, he concluded, “We can’t wait to see you. We love you New York.”

Aside from Grant Emerson on bass, the six-piece band is made up of Hölljes siblings Brittany on lead vocals, Eric on vocals and piano and Ian on vocals and guitar, as well as former teachers Liz Hopkins on lead vocals and Mike McKee on drums.

Delta Rae’s EP is available on iTunes.
