On the song selection process for his new album, Worsham said, “The whole process from the standpoint of songwriting began in Austin, Texas, at Waterloo Records, which is a favorite record store of mine. I went to Waterloo Records and I got these three notebooks, and I wrote ‘Tell the Truth’ on the cover of the first notebook. I filled up all three notebooks, and at that point, I had written all the songs for the album, and in that process, we found the other songs that I didn’t write that became a part of the album. It really stems from the journey to find the truth for myself, and I’m really grateful that I was able to accomplish that.”
He is teaming up for a spring tour with Grammy-nominated country songstress Brandy Clark. “I am so excited. I see so much of the parallel with Brandy’s story and my own. I’ve always been so in love with her music, her voice and songwriting. She is certainly someone who blazes her own trail. That is my favorite thing in art,” he said. “Our friendship is gong to grow, and our opportunity to collaborate is going to be there the whole tour long. I really look forward to meeting her band because I really believe each night will be special and unique.”
On April 20, Worsham will be playing at City Winery in New York City with Clark. “The next day, I will wake up and I will have an album going out into the world,” he said.
Worsham’s new album, Beginning of Things, is available for pre-order on iTunes.
