Interview: Biffy Clyro talks Warsaw concert in Brooklyn, New York (Includes interview)

He shared the band’s excitement for returning to New York to play in Brooklyn on Monday. “It’s going to be a high-energy show, with blood, sweat, tears and passion,” he said.

The first leg of their East Coast tour was “amazing.” “We were pleasantly surprised by the number of people at the gigs,” he said. “It was a really awesome experience.”

On the song selection process of their Ellipsis album, Johnston said, “We had a lot of songs. Simon writes a bunch of songs, and we sat with them for a while, and we went with the songs and melodies that got stuck in our heads.”

While it was extremely difficult for Johnston to select a favorite song on the album, he noted that he is extremely proud of the song “Re-Arrange.”

Each day, the group is motivated by life and their music. “The people you love, the connections you make, the places you travel and food is a big one for me,” he said. “There are lots of things that motivates me, and the fans inspire us to continue.”

This year, Biffy Clyro was nominated for a Brit award for “Best British Group.” “That was crazy,” he admitted. “We knew we weren’t going to win, but we embraced the night, and had a great time.”

Regarding the band’s future plans, he said, “We will be doing this for as long as we can, and we will keep going. We really fucking enjoy this. It’s the best job in the world.”
