Next week, Buckley will go to Chicago to film a Chicago Med episode. “It has been a wonderful, busy year. I just got back from Los Angeles where we did Grey Gardens for six weeks at the Ahmanson Theatre, a beautiful production that was directed by Michael Wilson, co-starring Rachel York and me,” she said.
“I am actually doing quite a few shows this fall,” she said, prior to revealing that on September 17, she will be at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center doing two shows, which will be followed by two shows at The Rrazz Room at The Prince in Philadelphia.
Buckley will be playing Joe’s Pub in the heart of New York City from September 22 to 25, for a total of seven performances. In the meantime, she will be doing song interpretation workshops at the T. Schreiber Studio for Film and Theatre in New York, which run from September 19 until September 29.
On September 30, she will be performing at the Landmark on Main Street in Port Washington on Long Island. “The concert I’m bringing to Port Washington is called ‘Story Songs’ that we will be doing at all those concert venues, except for the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, where the majority of them will be from my last album, Ghostlight, that was produced by T Bone Burnett,” she said.
In January 20, 2017, the new movie, Split by M. Night Shyamalan, comes out where Buckley is co-starring with actors Anya Taylor-Joy and James McAvoy.
Buckley won the 1983 Tony award for “Best Featured Actress in a Musical” for her portrayal of Grizabella in the Broadway production of Cats, where the music was composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, which features the Broadway standard “Memory.” “I am lucky to get to be associated with it. It’s a great song,” she said.
Each day, Buckley is driven by “the beauty of the day and the happiness to be alive.” “I am very grateful to be working with such wonderful collaborators at this point of my life. I love challenging myself to learn new things,” she said.
From 1979 until 1981, she starred in the lead role in the classic television series Eight is Enough. In 2012, Buckley was inducted into the coveted American Theater Hall of Fame.
