By Markos Papadatos     Feb 12, 2019 in Music
New York musician Lamar Peters has found his voice with Elvis Presley. He chatted with Digital Journal about his Elvis Presley tribute act, the Lamar Peters Show.
"I am a second generation tribute artist," Peters said. "Elvis Presley inspired me with his wonderful charisma and just being a humble human being. I also love to portray many different artists in my show," he added.
Speaking of different artists, aside from performing the music of "The King" Elvis Presley, Peters also sings the classic hits of such legendary entertainers as "The Man in Black" Johnny Cash, Sam Cook, Buddy Holly, and Tom Jones, among others. "Elvis is a very big inspiration to me. I know he has touched millions and millions of people all over the world even 43 years after he died," he said.
Growing up, Peters was influenced by a wide range of musical genres such as rock and roll, country music and gospel. In his live concerts, Peters shared that he is a firm believer that the songs he does are "more up-to-date" or "songs that Elvis Presley would've done."
This year, Peters earned "Best of Long Island" nominations in the "Arts and Entertainment" category, which included "Best Singer from Long Island." In addition, in the "Best of the Boro" awards in Queens, the Lamar Peters Show was named "Best Cover Band"
Regarding his plans for the future, Peters said, "As far as the future holds, I am looking forward to a lot of different original songs that were written with my family. Also, walking the righteous path of God's grace."
