‘Destructo’ talks Electric Zoo, music career, future and REZZ (Includes interview)

“It feels great to be at The Zoo,” he said. “The Zoo is one of those shows that I admired from the West Coast. To be here and running it is surreal for me. I am trying to keep its legacy going.”

On his plans for the future, DESTRUCTO said, “To keep making electronic music, DJing and producing events. More of the same. If I keep doing what I am doing, I am very happy.”

For aspiring DJs and electronic producers, DESTRUCTO shared that it is essential for them to “be unique and relentless.” “Never give up. Keep pushing and believe in yourself,” he said.

He listed REZZ (Isabelle Rezazadeh) as his dream female collaboration choice in electronic music. “Isabelle is cool,” he said.

Digital transformation of electronic music

Regarding the impact of technology on the electronic music scene, DESTRUCTO said, “Technology has turned it on its head. Before we wanted to get people to come to these events, we had to get on the radio, MTV and we had to get mainstream support, and they wouldn’t support this music. Now with all the technology, we can get our music around, tell people what we are doing and we have a direct link to our fans. It is much easier to do things than in our past because of technology.”

“I use technology all day long,” DESTRUCTO said. “I use my computer to make beats, to find music, to go on the web and to go into studios all day. I try to get off my technology.”
