He is drawn to electronic dance music due to the feeling that it creates within him. “There’s nothing quite like it, to be honest. And the best thing is you can share it with thousands of people everywhere you go,” he said.
Regarding his remix of Tiësto’s “On My Way,” he said, “Well, Tiësto and I go way back. He was one of the first guys to support me. Back in the days, we played a lot of shows together and even toured together. This relationship continued and we’re still in great contact. When I heard his single, I really wanted to get my hands on it, and he immediately liked what I did.”
On his future plans, Avila said, “I definitely want to come back to the United States, though at the moment I’m extremely swamped with production. Want to finish as much as possible before the summer season kicks in full effect again. I have already been to shows in Miami this year, played at Inception At Sea, which was really, really cool.”
Each day, he is motivated by the euphoric feeling of performing for his fans, as well as creating new music and playing it.
When asked about the future of electronic music in the next five years, he responded, “I think change is always imminent in the music business. So many artists have been trying out different sorts of genres, finding that one thing to set themselves apart from the rest, while others just stick with their sound. Both has proven to be successful, so it’s really difficult to say what the next big thing is. For me personally, I need to like what I do and don’t want to run after any trend, just because it has proven to be successful.”
For aspiring house producers and DJs, he said, “Find something that you really like, and that you see yourself performing. It’s super-important, that you want to play your music yourself. If it happens to be the same music everyone else plays, maybe go ahead and look for that one thing that makes you stand out, a sound, a way of arranging your music, a very unique bass or percussion. That’s what makes the difference in the end.”
He listed NERVO and Nora En Pure as his dream female collaborations in music. “My good friends NERVO are on my list of collaborations and luckily we already have a collaboration coming up soon. I also like the music Nora En Pure. It has a really good vibe and it is perfect for the club,” he said.
Avila defined the word success as “Working on something that you love and making others love it as well.” “The more people you can convince of yourself, the more successful you are. That’s my definition,” he said.
