Chatting with Cole Swindell: ‘Middle of a Memory,’ ‘Flatliner’ (Includes interview)

Swindell’s “Middle of a Memory” video garnered a 2017 CMT Music award nomination for “Video of the Year.” Country fans can cast their vote on the official CMT website, by clicking here. “Being nominated for anything is a big deal. That was my sixth music video, so to be recognized, is great for my director Michael Monaco, who has been with me from the start. It is cool to see that part of the work get recognized by the industry,” he said. “Seeing your name up with everybody that is in that category is hard to believe. I hope it feels like this forever. It’s a crazy feeling.”

His “Flatliner” single sits at No. 16 on the Billboard Hot Country Airplay charts, and climbing. This summer, Swindell is singing it with Dierks Bentley on his summer tour. “I’m just glad I got to put a song out with Dierks Bentley. The tour is going great. I’ve been a long-time fan of Dierks, so for him to go out and sing a song of mine that he is featured on in front of his crowd is one of those pinch myself moments. It is something I could have never dreamed of,” he said.

On June 23, Swindell will be performing with Dierks Bentley at Jones Beach on Long Island, New York, on Bentley’s headlining tour. “I can’t wait,” he said. “I’ve been on some major tours and anytime we are in the area it is refreshing to know that there are country music fans everywhere, and maybe a little more rowdy and more into it up there. I’m excited to get back and to bring my music there.”
