Wantagh - The Canadian tribute act, Wannabe: Spice Girls Tribute Band, chatted with me prior to their show at Mulcahy's Pub and Concert Hall.
"It feels great, and we are so happy to be back. It's our favorite place on Long Island, and it's our second home," said Barbara, who plays "Ginger Spice."
"We have a great time here. We love playing here. The crowd is so great, and Larger Than Life is awesome," said Suzy, who plays "Posh Spice."
Catharine, who plays "Baby Spice," shared that they will be returning to Mulcahy's on December 2, where they will do a little Christmas show. "We will be celebrating 'Spicemas,' we call it," Catherine said.
When asked which are heir favorite Spice Girls songs to play live, they revealed such recordings as "Wannabe," "Who Do You Think You Are," "Say You'll Be There," as well as their mash-up of "Generation Next" and "If You Can't Dance." "We will be doing that mash-up for the first time tonight at Mulcahy's," said Anika, who plays "Sporty Spice."
Suzy further explained that she picked "Say You'll Be There" since she is drawn to its message, which is about making sure that your partner is going to be there for you. They also love "Spice Up Your Life," since it is a fun song that the audience is always so excited to hear.
The girls of Wannabe: Spice Girls Tribute Band listed such male artists as Sam Smith, Bryan Adams, Axl Rose, Anthony Kiedis (of Red Hot Chili Peppers) and Justin Bieber as their dream duet choices. "I would love to sing with Sam Smith, since he has a romantic voice and feel and he would vibe really well with me," said Janee who plays "Scary Spice."
"I would love to sing with Justin Bieber. That would be so much fun and he's very good looking," said Catherine, who performs as "Baby Spice," and she noted that she would love to sing "Baby" with him.
