“We love Mulcahy’s,” Vinnie said. “I was born in Wantagh and I grew up here for the first 10 years in my life, so this is literally my hometown crowd. It’s a great place, the crowd is great and they treat us really well. This club is well known all throughout the North East. We are honored, and blown away.”
The name of the band originated as a result of Ronald Reagan being the president in the ’80s, at the time when all these classic recordings were released. “We say it is more ‘kitchen fun’ than politics,” he said. “If you grew up watching MTV and listening to Van Halen, Cyndi Lauper, Journey and Madonna, you will hear all of those songs.”
He continued, “The amazing thing about these songs is all the people my age still love them. The music is all about having fun. Every generation after that knows these songs and they really respond to this music. We dress up and we have a good time. There is a certain innocence to the era that people respond to: the bright clothes.”
His personal favorite ’80s song to play live is “Sweet Child o’ Mine” by Guns N’ Roses. “The guitar parts are really challenging, so it’s a lot of fun,” he said.
Throughout their musical career, The Ronald Reagans have played for U.S. Congress, Guy Fieri, Jimmy Buffett, U.S. Supreme Court Justice, Kelley Blue Book/NY Auto Show and the Special Olympics. “We had the opportunity to do a lot of neat gigs,” Vinnie said.
Their concert garnered a favorable review from Digital Journal.
