Chatting with Ricky Roche: Long Island singer and guitarist (Includes interview)

“I love it here. It’s a great room and it’s a fun crowd. I had a great time,” Roche said, about performing at Mulcahy’s.

For Roche, it was an honor to open for Mike DelGuidice and his Billy Joel tribute band Big Shot. “They are talented guys. They are very friendly and very generous,” he said.

During his live acoustic set at Mulcahy’s, Roche sang tunes from a wide variety of musical genres such as Avicii’s “Wake and Up” and The Chainsmokers’ “Closer,” both of which are electronic dance music hits, Darius Rucker’s Grammy-winning country tune “Wagon Wheel,” as well as a rendition of the classic rock song “Africa” by Toto, among many other songs. Most impressive was that on his version of Kid Rock’s “Picture” he was able to nail both the male and female vocals himself. “I try to mix it up, and do some new songs and some older hits,” Roche said, about his eclectic set-list.

Regarding his future plans, Roche hopes to be playing more shows, as well as to perform at Mulcahy’s more often.
