Chatting with Dannic: Bounce Boat, Fonk Recordings, duets, future (Includes interview)

On performing in New York, Dannic said, “I love being in New York, it’s one of my favorite cities in the United States. I think it’s my eighth or ninth time here. I always love coming here.”

He continued, “Bounce Boat is going to be epic. We are going to be on the water for four hours. It’s going to feel like a club on the water.”

The Dutch DJ and producer is drawn to electronic music due to its energy, and he loves the fact that he can make people move and happy with it. For aspiring DJs, he said, “Try to come up with new sounds. Don’t share music if you are not 100 percent satisfied with it.”

Dannic started his own record label, Fonk Recordings, and he is really excited about it. “It’s my new label that I started this year, and I am really happy with it. The two reasons I started it is because I wanted to emphasize my own sound more and more, and I wanted to help young artists and give them a platform,” he said.

Each day, Dannic is motivated by “being alive and waking up each morning.” “That’s the best motivation you can get,” he said, prior to noting that his music is inspired by the shows that he plays and all the travelling that he does.

He is looking forward to this year’s DJ Magazine Top 100 DJs poll. “In October, they will announce the new spot. Let’s hope for the best,” he said.

Dannic ranked No. 26 on the DJ Magazine Top 100 DJs poll in 2015, where he shared the Top 30 with two of his best friends, Dyro (No. 27) and Hardwell (No. 2). “It’s a great feeling. They are still my best friends, they know what they are doing, and they are great mentors to me,” he said.

He shared that he loves performing in Greece, and while he was not able to play there this summer, he hopes to be there next year, and even spend holiday vacation there.

Regarding the future of electronic music, he said, “It will be more melodic and it will get more groovy. It will get even more diverse than it is now, and it will be more accepted as well.”

He listed Alicia Keys and Adele as his dream female collaboration choices in music. For his fans, he concluded, “Thank you so much for all the support. I hope to see you really soon.”
