“The song ‘While We’re Young’ was co-written a couple of years ago. We did a writing camp here in Nashville, and we got a bunch of amazing writers and producers to come in. It was one of the first songs we wrote with Stephanie Bentley, Micah Wilshire and Jennifer Pappas,” she said, about her new single. “It was really special to me. It was about a subject matter that I thought was really important. You need to take a second to enjoy the moment. I’m definitely guilty of that for sure. I wanted to put out a song that talks about that.”
The music video for “While We’re Young” was directed by James King, and it was filmed in Watertown, Tennessee. She shared that she was drawn to her love interest in the video, due to his acting ability, and being a former musical theatre student, it allowed Kry to practice her acting as well. “We brought our vision to life in the music video and we really painted a picture for the listener and the viewer. I am so happy with how it turned out,” she said.
On her future plans, she said, “I’ve been working on some new music. I have so many new songs that I cannot wait to share. I want to put out those songs, and perform them live, and hopefully get on a tour.”
Kry listed Keith Urban and Hunter Hayes as her dream male duet choices in country music. “Keith has been one of my biggest male country influences. His voice just kind of transcends, and I got a chance to meet him a few years ago at the ACM awards in Dallas. Keith treated me like a fellow artist,” she said.
She also opened up about the digital transformation of the contemporary music scene. “It’s definitely not the way it used to be. The best way to go around with all this technology is just to embrace it. When Spotify first came on to the scene, I still stuck with iTunes and buying my CDs, but Spotify is where it’s at right now, and artists needs to embrace that. Spotify has done some amazing things. That’s how I found one of my favorite artists ever, Cam. I remember listening to ‘Burning House’ and I found her on a random Spotify playlist. Spotify and all of these social media outlets help connect me to people. That’s what I learned over the past few years of being an artist in today’s day and age,” she said.
The songstress continued, “I definitely am on my phone. As an artist, you have to be. You have to tell people what you are doing, and I like to update my fans, my ‘Krybabies’ if I am in the studio or what I’m working on. They get excited. Technology really is a part of my life for sure.”
