Catching up with Salina Solomon: Singer-songwriter (Includes interview)

Regarding the origin of her song, “Nightmare,” she said, “I was alone in my room. I was working on the chorus of it around 1:30 a.m. two years ago, on February 7, and from there, I went backwards. I started the second worse, and then wrote the first verse. My biggest nightmare was going on a date with a married man, and that was my biggest fear.”

Her latest songs have earned her comparisons to Sheryl Crow and Maren Morris. “That’s kind of cool. Maren Morris has a unique vibe to her, and she shakes up the music scene,” she said. “Sheryl Crow is country, but she’s also rock and she has pop elements in her melodies that stick in your head, so that’s really really cool.”

“Nightmare” got released on June 3, and “New York” is going to be released at the end of January of 2017.

Solomon’s plans for the future are to play in more states. “I would love to play in Hawaii and in California. I plan on going to Los Angeles in March, and I hope to release this EP,” she said. “The EP will have five songs. I like EPs better than albums, since I’m a perfectionist.”

Her two dream male collaboration choices are Tony Bennett and country singer Brett Eldredge. To learn more about singer-songwriter Salina Solomon, check out her official website, and Facebook page.
