article imageCatching up with Kill The Buzz: 'B.A.S.E' with Maddix Special

By Markos Papadatos     May 4, 2017 in Music
Dutch DJ and producer Kill The Buzz chatted with Digital Journal about his new track "B.A.S.E," where he collaborates with Maddix.
On his new track, "B.A.S.E," he said, "The track is short for “Brabants Ambachtelijke Sound Engineering” translated in English “Brabants Crafty Sound Engineering” where Brabant is the Province we both grew up in. The vocal of the track keeps reaping 'My Base' and when we had to come up with a track title I said 'let’s go for base with .(dots) between every letter' Pablo asked me what does it stand for? And then I figured it would totally fit the track title and collaboration."
Kill The Buzz continued, "Maddix had this cool demo on his computer which I thought was something we could collaborate on. I knew the melody and production in the verse / break needed some editing. At home I started adding layers to get a more of a Big Room vibe into the track. I later rushed over to Maddix’s studio to work on the track together. We went back and forth a couple of months in a row to get the track exactly produced the way we both wanted."
He praised Maddix for being a "really fun guy to work with." "He's a really great producer besides being a really cool and genuine guy. It was nice to work with a fellow artist in the studio who can translate ideas in the studio the same way as I would work in the studio. Sometimes you have this awkwardness working with someone else, but it felt like we were friends before instead of being strangers to each other," he said.
On his future plans, he said, "Besides touring shows, I’m focusing on broadening my musical journey. I feel like I am in a point that I want to explore more roads within the Dance genre. A bit more pop influenced but still dance! Besides that me and Hardwell have been working on a new collaboration which I have been playing during some of my sets so I’m really looking forward releasing that one probably this summer."
When asked about the future of electronic music in the next five years, he said, "I see electronic music diverging into a more diverse genre than it used to be. More and more people are exploring Trap & Harder / Hardstyle Sounds into their production and on the other hand people are trying out a more gently version of music, more radio friendly. Besides those to splits I think Trance is making his way up again and of course the more Ghetto House Mainstream is making his way up. Ibranovski is one of those guys who’s exploring something different which in my option is really cool!"
"Follow your heart and follow your dreams. Don't let yourself be led by boundaries or genres. Just go with what you feel," he told aspiring DJs and producers.
For his fans, he concluded, "Thank you all for supporting my sound and music up until now and especially my latest track with Maddix 'B.A.S.E.' Hope to see you all in the near future!"
