Bonnie Tyler and DNCE marvelous on ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’

Ms. Tyler sang her Grammy-nominated smash single as a duet with Joe Jonas and his band, DNCE, all while on aboard the cruise ship, Oasis of the Seas.

Her vocals were still as crisp, husky and raspy as ever. She was able to belt out the power-ballad with ease and excitement, taking fans and listeners worldwide on a trip down memory lane to 1983. She incorporated the song as a crowd singalong on the ship, while showcasing the growl in her voice. With the help of Joe Jonas and DNCE, she was able to introduce the song to a younger audience, and they all did a splendid job.

After the well-received performance, Tyler praised the group DNCE for doing great. “It was fabulous for me to work with this young, gorgeous band, and they did a fabulous version of ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart.’ It was really awesome,” Tyler exclaimed. “With the eclipse happening, performing this iconic song with a legend, our new friend, Bonnie, was a dream come true. Let’s do it in 99 years,” Joe Jonas said, and he and Tyler immediately broke into the opening verse a cappella.

Joe Jonas concluded, “The only way to sum it up is: ‘Turn around, every now and then I get a little bit lonely’,” they sang, in unison.
