Blasterjaxx talks ‘All I Ever Wanted,’ New York and fans (Includes interview)

On September 1, Blasterjaxx headlined Marquee New York. “It is always great to be back at such an amazing city. We flew in one day early and had the time to walk around for a bit which is always something fun to do. Marquee was the the first show since a long time in New York and definitely saw a lot of Blastersoldiers. Was really good to be back,” they exclaimed.

Speaking of New York, Blasterjaxx has the good fortune to play at Electric Zoo: Wild Island last year. “Even though it’s a while back, this show is still at the top of our mind. The vibe was amazing, lineup was crazy, we’ll definitely remember this show for a long time,” they said.

Regarding their plans for the rest of the year, Blasterjaxx said, “Now that the festival season is coming to and end, we’ll be doing more club shows the upcoming month. Also, Amsterdam Dance Event is coming up in October and we’re hosting our first Maxximize Label Night which is very exciting! In terms of music, we’ve released a lot of new tracks this year but we’re not done yet. Some cool stuff is coming up soon.”

They released their new track “All I Ever Wanted,” where they collaborated with Polish musician Tom Swoon. “We think it’s a really dope track. It took some time to get to the result we aimed for and put a lot of effort in it. It’s a bit more of a progressive sound, but you’ll still recognize the Blasterjaxx influence. We’re really happy with the end result,” they said, prior to praising Swoon. “Tom is really talented and nice guy. We’ve had him on the label earlier this year with his track ‘Helter Skelter’ together with Maximals. When he approached us for a collaboration on this track, we immediately were enthusiastic about the tune, and said let’s do it!”

Digital transformation of electronic music

On the impact of technology in the contemporary music scene, Blasterjaxx said, “We think a great example is Soundcloud. In the past, everybody uploaded their bootlegs on this platform which was a really good way to start developing your own sound and get the recognition. Nowadays, that’s not possible anymore unfortunately, which is a pity for upcoming artists.”

For their loyal fans and followers, Blasterjaxx concluded, “Thank you for your ongoing support! The Blastersoldiers are the best. It means a lot to us when we see that we make so many people happy with our music and shows!”
