Blake G talks Emilio Estefan, new single, San Francisco Pride (Includes interview)

Blake G is collaborating with 19-time Grammy-winning producer Emilio Estefan (the husband of Gloria Estefan), on his breakthrough radio single, which will be released this summer. “It was incredible working with Emilio,” he said. “The album isn’t complete yet, but we are putting the final touches on it. Growing up in Miami and hearing all the sounds, and the Latin elements, made me who I am. Emilio was the soundtrack of Miami. It was a dream come true to be working with Emilio. I really felt very fortunate.”

On June 24, 2018, Blake G will be performing at San Francisco Pride, which is in support of the LGBT community and its allies. “I am really excited to be performing there,” he said. “The people can expect a high-energy, fun show that embraces the concept of loving yourself. That is what I get across from the stage. Everybody there should be feeling like they love themselves a little bite more.”

Blake G shared that he has enjoyed being out on the road touring, thus bringing his music to the fans. “You need to embrace touring, and I like to get people on their feet. I like to see people clapping and singing along while I am on stage. Touring is very rewarding, especially to see people happy.”

The Miami native listed global music stars Usher and Christina Aguilera as his dream collaboration choices. “Artists inspire me, and there isn’t any genre of music that I dislike. I can see beauty in every genre of music,” he said.

He defined the word success as “A frame of mind that you understand that you have accomplished something, but there is always room for much more.”

Digital transformation of music business

On the impact of technology on the music business, Blake G noted that there are advantages and disadvantages to it. “Record sales aren’t what they used to be. Back in the day, when I was younger, I remember buying Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears CDs. Now that doesn’t exist anymore, but music is more accessible, and anybody can listen to music, and that’s what makes technology amazing. You can listen to music at any point of the day. You can just listen no matter what time, and that is very cool.”
