Bjork’s new studio album ‘Utopia’ comes with free cryptocurrency

The acclaimed singer-songwriter is famously experimental with just about everything, so it’s no surprise that she’s now working on bringing blockchain into the music business. She is allowing her fans to buy the new album with cryptocurrency, and she is actually giving them digital cash for doing so. Cryptocurrency is old-fashioned fiat money, and they can purchase her new album via her official website or her record label’s website (One Little Indian Records).

She will entitle listeners to 100 AudioCoins, a music-centric ICO that is built on the back of bitcoin. These coins add up to a value of approximately 26 cents. In a creative way, Bjork is paying her fans and listeners to buy her album.

Other celebrities that have endorsed this include Paris Hilton and Jamie Foxx, however, it has come with a warning from the SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission), where they are encouraging celebrities to think twice before doing this, since if anything turns out to violate the law, they may be held legally accountable. If one is a fan of Bjork’s music, one will not be risking much, since one will be able to purchase the new album, and the cryptocurrencies will be an added plus.

According to Kevin Bacon, the CEO of Blockpool, his company will be helping Bjork and her record label with the crypto-processing. “It’s about doing things where you use blockchain and the crypto benefits in ways that people haven’t thought of yet,” he told Music Ally, in an interview.

One of her previous albums was an iPad app album.

Throughout her lengthy career in the music industry, Bjork has been nominated for 14 Grammy awards. She has won five Brit awards, and four MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).

Bjork’s forthcoming studio album, Utopia, will be released on November 24 via One Little Indian Records.
