Billy Joel to perform New Year’s Eve concert at NYCB Live

The previous time that the “Piano Man” performed for New Year’s Eve at this Long Island venue was 25 years ago. Joel is a native of Long Island and he will perform his 34th career show at the Nassau Veteran Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale.

Ironically enough, Joel played the NYCB Live on April 5, 2017, when it re-opened following its extensive renovation. In 1998, the acclaimed singer-songwriter and pianist had sold-out nine concerts, which was the record for the most sold-out shows in one year. A banner still hangs in the rafters at NYCB LIVE, which honors his illustrious history in the Long Island music scene. Joel has been playing at the Coliseum for over 40 years.

On August 23, Joel performed at the “World’s Most Famous Arena” Madison Square Garden, as part of his monthly residency, and he paid a tribute to the late “Queen of Soul” Aretha Franklin. Canadian superstar Bryan Adams was his surprise musical guest.

A month prior to that, on July 18, Joel performed his 100th-lifetime concert at Madison Square Garden.

Throughout his respected career in the music industry, Joel has sold 150 million albums. He has been ranked as one of the most popular entertainers and recording artists in contemporary music history; moreover, Joel is one of the highest grossing touring artists worldwide.
