Big Time Rush’s Logan Henderson talks new single ‘Sleepwalker’ (Includes interview)

Regarding the idea behind “Sleepwalker,” Henderson said, “I had not made music in a while. That was the first song I really sat down for with one of my close friends. It took me a long while to get back in the groove of music. It was a story that I had in my journals for a while, and I have never been able to verbalize it and put it into an actual song. We wrote the song really shortly and the story came out easily. The music followed and it really worked. It was definitely a magic moment in the studio. We worked really well with each other. We kept on writing music and we went from there.”

Henderson continued, “The story is haunting and beautiful at the same time. That’s how relationships can be at times. I wanted something that everybody can relate to, and formulate their own story within some of the lyrics. There is a lot of reading to do in between the lines. The song lends itself for people to have their own imagination with a similar time in their life.”

On the song’s music video, Henderson said, “The song was more of an introduction to me, because the music and the art is much different from what I was doing in Big Time Rush previously. It was important for me to show this as more of a movie and less of a music video. It’s an abstract view of the story, and visually, it is really pretty, and I think it came together nicely.”

Each day, Henderson is motivated by meeting new people and his family. “It can be something really simple. I live really close to the beach now, so it’s nice to find inspiration in the smallest things. having a moment outside by yourself. The world around me is pretty inspiring and so are the people in it. I have a deep love for music and life in general,” he said.

He collaborated with Kendall Schmidt and Dustin Belt from the alternative duo Heffron Drive on the song “Passing Time.” “It’s great to see their work grow and take shape as well. ‘Passing Time’ is a really fun song, and I loved it since I heard it. That was a cool thing to jump on a project together,” he said.

Henderson listed Tove Lo as his dream female collaboration choice in music. “I just went to a Tove Lo concert the other night, and I think she’s complete rock and roll. I think she is one of a kind. Her music is very cool and it strikes a chord with me. She is pretty incredible,” he said.

For aspiring musicians, he said, “Be fearless in your own creative space. It’s important to take it one step at a time. Be your own person and be proud of the art that you are making.”

He defined success as “A place that you are most connected with yourself and with other people.” “To show love and to inspire people to create is success for me,” he said.
