Tim Bergling, world renowned electronic music producer and DJ, better known by his stage name Avicii died of an apparent suicide at the age of 28.
As Digital Journal previously reported, Avicii passed away on April 20, 2018, in Muscat, Oman. The global music community mourned the Swedish musician's death, and tributes poured in on social media.
Avicii's family has issued a statement to the press, which vent viral. They shared that their beloved Tim was a "seeker," as well as a fragile soul that was searching for answers to "existential" questions.
They subsequently described him as an "over-achieving perfectionist," a term that is suitable for most of the biggest names in electronic dance music (EDM), who worked extremely hard at a pace that led to massive stress.
The family also shared that when the "Wake Me Up" hitmaker retired from touring, he wanted to find a balance in his life, in an effort to be content and do what he loved, which was making music. Avicii "struggled" with contentment, life and meaning to the point where "he could not go on any longer." His goal was to find peace.
Avicii's family acknowledged that he was not made for the music business. Instead, he was a sensitive guy that loved his fans and listeners, but he avoided the spotlight. The family concluded in their statement noting that he will be missed and loved forever. He will live on thanks to the genuine personality that he had, as well as his music, which inspired countless fans all over the world.
