Planet Hum/Universal Music pop recording artist Atiye chatted with Digital Journal about her music, as well as her new single "We Got That La."
An international star, Atiye has been on the covers of multiple magazines internationally such as InStyle Home, CosmoGirl, People and Women's Health, among others. Her YouTube channel has accumulated over 65 million views and she speaks five languages; moreover, she is an Elle Style Award Winner for "Best Dressed Artist." "The first time I was on a magazine cover, I was super excited. I love doing photo shoots. It is always nice being on the cover. I love it," she said, with a sweet laugh. "Winning the Elle Style award was so nice, because I love Elle Magazine."
On her new music, Atiye said, "My first single was 'Radiant Night,' and tomorrow 'We Got That La' comes out. I really like the idea of East meeting West, so we had these urban beats and we put some Oriental strings and percussion to it, to add the Oriental spice to it. The project is very international."
Each day, Atiye is motivated by her passion for art and love for music and dance. "Just being creative motivates me every day," she said.
Regarding her future plans, Atiye said, "To have some success outside of Turkey, and to release my singles, and of course, have fun while doing this, and meet nice people and do nice collaborations. Being on stage is my biggest passion."
Atiye listed Bruno Mars as her dream male collaboration choice. "I really like Bruno," she said. Atiye defined success as "Being good at what you want to achieve, and to have your goals and to do everything you can to make it happen. When it happens, it is just amazing, and you realize that everything is possible. It is good to have dreams. Everything starts by dreaming."
Her advice for aspiring musicians is as follows: "The most important thing is really to be yourself. If you are being yourself, you are already unique, since everybody is different. You should believe in yourself and what you are doing, and never give up. Work hard. That's it!"
Digital transformation of music
On the impact of technology in the modern music scene, Atiye said, "Technology has changed music a lot! Now, it is so easy to find the music that you are searching for. It's super cool. If you are in a cab and you are hearing a song, you can just push a button, and you know who the artist is and what the song is called. That's really nice."
Regarding her use of technology, she said, "I use Instagram and Facebook. I really like my iPhone and I want to get the new iPhone."
