Andrew Rayel talks new single ‘Mass Effect,’ inHarmony Music (Includes interview)

Why did you choose “Mass Effect” to be the first release from your new label? Can you describe the track?

ANDREW RAYEL: This was the first track that I finished after the album, MOMENTS, and it was the first track in all my sets on the “Moments” tour, so it made sense to have it released as the first track on the label because most of the people knew it and a lot of them were asking about the track and when it would be released. It is a very energetic, emotional track with an anthemic melody that sets up the tone straight away when I start playing.

Any new EP or album in the works? Are you going for a certain theme?

ANDREW RAYEL: There is definitely a lot of new music in the works that will be released on my new label, inHarmony Music. No new album for now. I’m still focused on promoting the MOMENTS album and we will release a deluxe version of it soon which will include all the remixes of the tracks. I’m always going with the flow, not really thinking about certain themes. Whatever comes in my mind and I like it will be released.

What are your plans for the future of your new label?

ANDREW RAYEL: I’m planning to release a lot of my music and also discover and promote new talents. Build a family that will support each other, share music with each other and grow into big DJ superstars, hopefully.

How do you feel that technology has changed the music industry in a way that you didn’t predict?

ANDREW RAYEL: We can never predict the evolution of technology because it’s going extremely fast. I love it. I like all the new techniques of production and DJing that are possible only because of this evolution. In general, I’m a big fan of all high-tech stuff. Everything became faster. Now we can produce a few tracks per week because we don’t need to spend any more priceless hours on wiring cables, everything is in one place on your computer and you can be even more creative and think only about the music and harmony.

How do you use technology in your music and your daily routine?

ANDREW RAYEL: Most of the new technology I use in the making of my music comes in the form of a software, the so-called VST or Virtual Studio Technology. I”s basically virtual instruments that I use in my digital audio workstation. In the day life like most people, I’m always using different gadgets, my phones and laptops.

The DJ Magazine Top 100 DJs poll voting is happening… are you excited for that this year?

ANDREW RAYEL: I’m always excited to see the results and most of the time It surprises me when I see certain positions. It’s definitely a push in every DJ’s career but I’m not focusing on the DJ Mag a lot, more on my music, my shows, and now my new label.

What would you like to say to your fans about your new single, record label and what they should be excited about that’s in store for the near future?

ANDREW RAYEL: Well the new label is finally here and it’s called inHarmony Music! Make sure to join the family here: on the inHarmony Music Facebook page. This year every month you are going to get a new amazing track that will always be premiered on my radio show, “Find Your Harmony.” I’ve got tracks already from David Gravell, Mark Sixma, Jochen Miller, and of course, from myself! Don’t miss it!
