American Idol’s Nick Fradiani flops on new album’s sales, charts

According to Billboard, Fradiani’s album Hurricane has sold a little over 5,000 copies, the majority of which were in pure album sales.

Fradiani’s album debuted at No. 121 on the Billboard 200 all-genre charts, which is extremely embarrassing, especially since he is on a major record label, signed to the Big Machine Label Group.

This marks the lowest debut for an album by an American Idol winner in Billboard history, in terms of record sales and chart position respectively. All of the previous American Idol winners and their albums have debuted in the Top 25 on the Billboard 200 all-genre charts, and they have all had opening weeks sales in the five digits. Fradiani’s album plummeted in the four digits, with just over 5,000 units. It is only a matter before it drops out of the Billboard 200 entirely.

His lead single, “Beautiful Life,” and Idol coronation song, also barely made it in the Billboard Hot 100 charts, peaking at No. 93.
