Amityville - American Idol alumna and singer-songwriter Jax sat down and chatted with me prior to her show at Revolution Bar & Music Hall in Amityville.
"I love it here," she said, about Revolution Bar & Music Hall. "I feel like I'm going back to my roots. I grew up on Long Island, and I've played here quite a few times when I was younger."
On her plans for the future, she said, "I plan to keep travelling and keep playing and releasing cool music. I hope people connect with me the way that I connect with them."
For Jax, coming in third place on the fourteenth season of the reality singing competition American Idol was a "life-changing experience." "We had such a good time and it was a great learning experience," she said.
Each day, she is motivated by coffee, and she gets her morning ideas in the shower. "Music motivates me every day, and I like to run a lot and I like to set goals, and I feel like I tackle them," she said.
While she was battling thyroid cancer in August of last year, Jax proved to been one true fighter with an indomitable spirit. 'I have been going through some health issues over the past year. I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer a while ago, but I feel I'm in a great place. I ran a full marathon and a half marathon. It inspired me a lot," she said.
Jax's show at Revolution Bar & Music Hall garnered a favorable review from Digital Journal, where she played songs from her Funny EP.
Her Funny EP is available on iTunes.
