A conversation with Long Island band New Life Crisis (Includes interview)

Lead singer Paul Mahos opened up about being a part of the Firefighter Michael J. Cawley Memorial Foundation event, that took place on April 8. “This event means a lot to us, personally. It is special to us because Brendan [Cawley] and I have been friends for a very long time,” Mahos said. “To Brendan’s credit, they took such a tragic incident and made it into something really amazing. They have been supporting kids scholarships and all kinds of great causes. They took a tragedy and made it into something really beautiful. It couldn’t be a better tribute and celebration to a person’s life. I’m sure Michael would be very proud of what has transpired over the years.”

Mahos noted that tonight at Mulcahy’s they would be performing a variety of songs. “We play a lot of the standards, classics and a mix of everything. We have to play ‘Bad,’ because that’s actually one of Brendan’s favorite songs,” he said. “We cover everything. Tonight is really not about the band, it’s more about the fundraiser. We are actually happy to be a part of it and we are happy to be in the background and let the day speak for itself.”

Aside from Mahos on lead vocals and guitar, the band is made up of Jeff Allegue on guitar, bass and vocals, John Sawicki on drums and founding member Rob Woebber. “Sawicki joined us this year and he brought this band to a whole new level,” Mahos said.
