New York - Madonna will introduce members of Russian punk rock band Pussy Riot at an Amnesty International concert in New York City in February.
The pop icon said she was "honored" for the opportunity to introduce "my fellow freedom fighters" Maria Alyokhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova at the Amnesty International human rights concert, BBC News reports.
"I have admired their courage and have long supported their commitment and the sacrifices they have made," Madonna continued.
Alyokhina and Tolokonnikova spent nearly two years in prison and were released in December.
The two ladies along with fellow Pussy Riot member Yekaterina Samutsevich. were convicted on August 17, 2012 of "hooliganism motivated by religious hatred" for an anti-Putin protest at a Moscow cathedral.
The concert will take place February 5 at Brooklyn's Barclay Center and will also include Lauryn Hill, Imagine Dragons, and The Flaming Lips among others, The Associated Press reports.
