article imageLighting contractors file $95,000 lien against Akon

By Layne Weiss     Feb 28, 2014 in Entertainment
Atlanta - A Georgia lighting contractor claims Akon never paid for the work they did at his Atlanta mansion, and is suing the singer for unpaid bills totaling $95,000 plus interest.
According to a lien filed by Southern Electric Company on November 26, 2013, Akon neglected to pay for $95,000 worth of "labor and materials" used during renovations of his home in Milton, Georgia, Radar Online reports. The company is taking Akon to court for the amount, plus interest.
They're not the only ones suing Akon. The singer is also being sued by Australian entrepreneur Patrick Grove, HipHopWired reports. Grove claims he paid Akon $125,000 to perform at his birthday party in Malaysia, and that the singer bailed just two days before, pocketing the money. Grove was told just two days before his party that Akon wouldn't even be anywhere near the area because his Australian had been canceled. Grove is suing Akon for the money he paid him, plus damages.
And that's not all! In January, Egyptian singer Tamer Hosney sued Akon for his failure to deliver rapper Pitbull to a video shoot for Hosney's song "Arabian Knight." Akon and Pitbull were paid $300,000 to perform on the track. Akon did his part and sang on the track, but Pitbull was a no show, and according to the lawsuit, Akon is to blame because he promised Hosney that the Miami hip-hop star would be there.
