article imageJudas Priest labelled 'death metal' on Simpsons, Bart apologises

By Kev Hedges     Jan 15, 2014 in Entertainment
A recent episode of The Simpsons, which featured heavy metal rock giants Judas Priest guesting, had mislabelled the band as "death metal," causing uproar with fans of one of the finest and most original heavy metal bands of all time.
Once the show's writers had heard of the erroneous slip up, they forced Bart Simpson to write, "Judas Priest is not 'Death Metal'" on the classroom blackboard several times at the end of the episode, reports Rolling Stone Music magazine.
The original mislabelling came in a storyline where Homer starts downloading music off the internet illegally, leading the FBI to implement anti-piracy investigations. The family then take refuge in a Swedish consulate, while outside the FBI counter by hiring the "death metal" Judas Priest to blast a rehash of their best-known track "Breaking the Law," with the words changed to "Respecting the law: copyright law!"
In the Encyclopaedia Metallum the Birmingham-based band are clearly labelled as "heavy, or speed metal."
