article imageInterview with Dee Jay Silver: Nassau Coliseum, New York Special

By Markos Papadatos     Feb 17, 2014 in Entertainment
Uniondale - Dee Jay Silver is signed to RCA Records Nashville. He is a country DJ, mixer and producer, who is originally from Austin, Texas.
Silver sat down and chatted with me backstage on February 16, prior to his show at Brad Paisley's "Beat This Winter" tour that took place at New York's Nassau Coliseum.
He shared the stage with such country artists as Chris Young and Danielle Bradbery from The Voice, as well as headlining act Brad Paisley.
On being in Long Island, New York, he said with a laugh, "This is our second time in one week. It's good. We got cancelled on Thursday due to the weather."
Silver has had a great deal of success with his Country Club EP, which features such songs as his edit of " Two Black Cadillacs/Jolene," as well as remixes of Alabama's "Dixieland Delight," Love and Theft's "Angel Eyes" and Jake Owen's "Barefoot Blue Jean Night." "You will hear a lot of my new songs tonight," he foreshadowed.
"I play everything I make out there. It might not be on the record, but it's material that you heard on my radio show," he explained.
Silver's itinerary of work and travel is quite busy in the near future. "I do the Sony boat party, then I fly to Scottsdale, Arizona, to play at Dierks Bentley's Whiskey Row and then I fly back to Nashville and do Bridgestone Arena with Brad Paisley and then I play the after-party in Nashville, where all my friends will come out," he said.
He shared that he leaves for Spring Break during the first week of March, where he will be playing shows in Mexico and it will be followed with shows in South Padre Island, Texas, as well as the iHeartRadio Music Festival after-party in Austin, Texas, the latter of which he dubbed as "the biggest country festival in the planet."
Each day, Silver is motivated simply by playing music. "We play music and we cannot wait to play each night," he said. "Being the first country DJ, it's cool to see other DJs starting to do it now. We have been doing it for a while, so it's great to see it catching on. Country is the new cool."
At tonight's show, Silver played before Chris Young's set (where he praised opener Danielle Bradbery), then he did a full set before Brad Paisley's live performance, and he joined Paisley for several songs on stage, which included "Beat This Summer," "Outstanding in Our Field," as well as "Alcohol."
