By Markos Papadatos     Feb 10, 2014 in Entertainment
Country singer and songwriter Greg Bates chatted about his future plans in music, which will include spring and summer tour dates.
His breakthrough hit single "Did It For The Girl" that he released in 2012 reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot Country Airplay charts. "That was huge for me to have that to kick-start my career," he said. "It was really, really good."
Bates is going in the studio to record his forthcoming project, where he will be working with two Grammy-winning producers. "I am back writing and I am about to go into the studio," the Nashville native said. "Everything is going great right now. Everything is really good. Both of these producers have become really good friends of mine and I have been fans of theirs for a long time. It's a good feeling to work with your heroes and to be able to call them your friends at the same time is indescribable."
On February 13, Bates will be playing at the historic Station Inn, which will be broadcast worldwide by 650 WSM. "It's going to be great and I am looking forward to it," he said. "I have done some on-air radio shows with WSM and their history speaks for itself. I grew up listening to them here in Nashville and to be welcomed into the family over there as much as I have been is really awesome."
This past Saturday marked his 25th time performing at the iconic Grand Ole Opry stage. "I am always amazed that they have me back," he said. "I am in awe of that place and its history. Every time I go I get to meet another one of my heroes. It's an amazing experience and it is still nerve-wrecking every time that I do that."
Bates is starting to book his spring and summer tour dates for 2014, which will include stops in such areas as Upstate New York and Southern Mississippi. "The last two years have been a whirlwind of being all over the country and visiting radio stations. I am just looking forward to getting out there on the road and play some new music and move forward with it. I hope to get back out and have a good time this summer," he said.
He listed country songstresses Martina McBride, Reba McEntire and Patty Loveless as his dream female duet choices. "I am a big Martina fan and a huge Reba fan and I recently got to meet Patty Loveless at the George Jones tribute in Nashville. Those are some of the few that I definitely would love to do something with at some point," he said.
