Steve Grand is the first openly gay male country star. He was able to fully fund his forthcoming CD project goal of $81,000, thanks to his dedicated fans.
He was able to reach his goal in just 17 hours, with 29 days still remaining for the Kickstarter campaign.
His breakthrough video "All-American Boy" that he funded last summer had gone viral, turning him into a global singing sensation, who was able to captivate listeners thanks to his moving video. As of today, he has reached $132,000, and that number keeps on climbing.
This was all done thanks to his loyal fans and without the support of a major record label.
Particularly impressive about this video is that it has become one of only 32 videos, from over 27,000 musical projects in Kickstarter's history, to successfully raise $100,000 or more in funding.
Grand was truly overwhelmed by all of this outpouring of love and support and he stated in a press statement, "My fans have done it again."
"They're a game changer. They've been the driving force at every step in my career, from making 'All-American Boy' go viral to making this record possible. I am amazed and grateful. This is truly a grassroots movement," he remarked. "Now that we've reached our original goal, we can breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that this album is definitely going to be made. But there’s really no limit on how high we can fly, if we have the money to market and promote the album properly."
