article imageReview: Paul Mecurio performs at Governor's Comedy Club in Levittown Special

By Markos Papadatos     Jun 9, 2018 in Entertainment
Levittown - On June 9, 2018, Emmy award-winning comedian Paul Mecurio performed at Governor's Comedy Club in Levittown on Long Island.
Mecurio had a great deal of audience interaction and invited them on stage with him to participate in his act, which was well-received. He opened up about his Italian background, and the stereotypes that come with it. He also described his experience on a checkout line in a store, where he had eight items, and was asked if he wanted a plastic bag for them. Instead, he requested a live octopus to carry one item in each arm.
While at the store, he also asked for an employee discount while working the self-checkout, since he was doing their job for them, and rightfully so.
He also spoke about his dog at home, who would always be annoyed by him, where every time Mecurio would go near him, the dog would go to a different room. He opened up about his wife, and how they met in high school, and concluded his set with his classic jokes about pickles and Vaseline (which was passed down to his by his grandparents, and is left wondering how the manufacturers of Vaseline ever make money).
Mecurio shared that on July 16 he is performing his one-man show "The 4th Wall with Paul Mecurio" at The Jerry Orbach Theater at The Theater Center in New York on Broadway, so he invited his Governor's Comedy Club audience at Levittown to attend.
He also noted that he had the distinct privilege to interview Paul McCartney for his podcast, and discussed that remarkable experience with the audience.
The Verdict
Overall, Paul Mecurio was entertaining and fun at Governor's Comedy Club in Levittown. In particular, the stand-out moments included when he improved with his audience members on the spot, especially when he invited them on stage. His live stand-up comedy show in Levittown garnered 4.5 out of 5 stars.
