article imageReview: Nick Di Paolo performs at Governor's Comedy Club on Long Island Special

Levittown - On June 16, stand-up comedian Nick Di Paolo headlined Governor's Comedy Club in Levittown on Long Island. Mike Calcagno hosted the event, and served as his opening act.
Calcagno was able to warm up the stage for Di Paolo with his brief yet witty comedic set. As the headliner began his set, Di Paolo poked fun at the golf commercials on television, and noted that this is his first show in six weeks, so in case he does not perform well, we should blame his agent. Fortunately, for the Levittown audience, that wasn't necessary and he was able to deliver.
He shared that he is 56 years old, and he started smoking, and he made fun of a young fan that was on his phone. "The real world is here," he told that millennial, and noted that excessive phone use could cause cancer, amongst other things.
Di Paolo took a firm stance against roadside memorials on the highway, which he subsequently dubbed as "tacky." He continued by making fun of the #MeToo movement, Harvey Weinstein and Whoopi Goldberg. He even commented on Oprah, President Donald Trump, Bill Cosby, and he even impersonated Popeye for a brief moment.
Later in his set, he took a shot in honor of the Long Island audience, and even smoked one cigarette, after obtaining clearance for it. "I am so much funnier when I'm smoking," he admitted.
He also inquired as to whether or not it is necessary for the deceased to wear expensive clothing at wakes and funerals, where the clothing would appear as something found in Men's Wearhouse.
One of the funniest moments in his set was when he discussed his estate planning (and meeting with lawyers), and in the event that he or his wife died, where both of them have folders on their laptops entitled "When I Die." In these folders, they list the specific things that either of them would have been okay, in the event of a sudden death.
"Levittown, you are the best," he concluded. "I had a great time," he added, and encouraged the crowd to check out his podcast.
The Verdict
Overall, Nick Di Paolo put on a solid and clever headlining comedic set at Governor's Comedy Club in Levittown. He is worth seeing live whenever he is performing in town. Di Paolo's stand-up show garnered two thumbs up.
