Najee De-Tiege delivered a powerful scene as R.J. Garrett-Foster opposite Michael Copon, who plays the ruthless and unethical cop Colton Kurosaki. R.J. was a subject of racial profiling by the cop without any probable cause whatsoever. He stood his ground and was bold and unflinching despite being frisked unjustly in front of the hospital, where he works.
Equally captivating was his scene with Alicia Leigh Willis, who plays Avery Garrett, and he reveals to her the ordeal and injustice that Officer Kurosaki put him through. She was the voice of reason during this trying time, and R.J. was not afraid to be raw, honest, and vulnerable.
Najee De-Tiege was able to convey a wide spectrum of emotions and he layered his emotions well in these scenes, and the audience tuning in can’t help but feel compassion for his character, especially since R.J. is a man of great character in the show. Alicia Leigh Willis was sensational in her own right, and both actors deserve to be commended for a job well done.
The topic of racial profiling is very timely, relevant, and important in the world that we are living in today, and compliments to the award-winning director, writer, and creator Gregori J. Martin and his writing team for shedding light on this sensitive matter with much delicacy and authenticity.
