Review: 8-year-old Issy Simpson is a wonder on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’

Simpson’s “Britain’s Got Talent” audition video went viral and rightfully so. She is the youngest magician to ever appear on the British reality competition. “Today, I’m going to show you something about my two favorite things: magic and reading, using my three favorite books,” Simpson told the four judges, as they took part in the magic act.

She then showed three of the judges (Amanda Holden, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon) her three favorite books (by such authors as Colin Davies, Enid Blyton and ironically enough David Walliams himself), and allowed the judges to look through them. She then asked critical judge Simon Cowell to pick up her cardboard box and put it on the floor for her, but he was unable to do so. Cowell even recruited fellow judge Walliams to help him lift up the box, but both judges were unable to do so.

As Simpson proceeded towards the box, she opened it up (showing a deck of cards in it), and she picked it up with ease and was able to transport it in a comfortable fashion. The judges were left pondering, “How did that happen?”

The Verdict

Overall, Issy Simpson was able to wow the judges and audiences at home with her clever Britain’s Got Talent audition. She is one strong contestant to look out for this season, since she is destined for big things in the magic world. This young girl’s future seems very promising. Simpson is reminiscent of a real-life Hermione Granger (played by Emma Watson) from the Harry Potter series.
