Regarding her experience on Secrets and Lies, she said, “You know as a viewer I really enjoy the concept of an anthology series. I like the fact that you get a full story in one season and then a whole different story in the next, but I will say as a player in this cast of amazingly talented people I – I could have stayed on for another 2/3 seasons. I mean the entire experience was an absolute joy. From being able to work with actors like Juliette Lewis to Michael Ealy to Terry O’Quinn, I could go on and on about the entire cast. I was genuinely excited to go in to work everyday.”
On her experience on Chicago Med, she said, “I’m currently shooting my second episode in Chicago and I gotta tell ya, these folks have been so welcoming! Such a kind down to earth cast. I already feel like I’m a part of the Chicago fam, which is so nice, and Oliver Platt has been great to work with. He’s an actors actor you know, he’s trained and has been doing this for a long time, so it’s a pleasure to get to watch him work and an honor to play his daughter.”
When asked what motivates her each day, she responded, “Performing has been a passion of mine since I was a little girl so my motivation stems from my sort of incessant need to fulfill my goals. For me it’s important to always have something to strive for and look forward to. Once I hit one goal then I try to have another one in place so that I don’t ever get stagnant and become complacent with where I am which allows me to continue to grow and evolve as a person.”
On her future plans, she said, “I’ve got a couple production company’s that I’ve started, Little Man Productions and Broadway Beyond, and I’m really hoping that they continue to expand and allow me to create works that I’m proud of and that others can connect to.”
For aspiring actors, she said, “Whatever you do, don’t give up. I’ve been in this business for a while and know how hard it can be, but if I gave up during the times when things were hard I wouldn’t be where I am today. And I still have a long way to go. But for me it’s a marathon and keeping a steady stride is what has kept me grounded over the years.”
She defined success as “Being able to work and be happy about the work I am putting out there. Whether that work is in Television, Film on stage or if it’s giving back and helping others achieve their dreams. Success for me equals happiness.”
Cox will be a part of TV Land’s Impastor. “What character do you play on that show and how is it different from your other roles? Don’t wanna give too much away but what I can say is Jasmine is definitely a change from the other two characters I’m playing. She’s sort of this exotic and mysterious woman that catches Buddy (Michael Rosenbaum’s character) off guard. She was a ton of fun to play, I really enjoyed my time on that set,” she said.
