“I’m very excited because at the moment I’m working on two new acting projects — and both are in the UK again,” he said. “After the great experience with shooting the lead in the British Feature Film ‘Sodom’ I really hoped to be able to do more English-speaking work. So this is like a dream come true. This week I’ll fly to London to film “Angel North” — it’s a Trailer for a Science-Fiction Series. My part is totally different from other parts I’ve played so far; plus it’s a genre I’ve never worked in. So I’m really looking forward to that. Later in the year I’ll be playing a not so nice guy in the Horror-Feature ‘The Toymaker.’ We’ll be filming by the seaside in South Wales and I hope it’s going to be a lot of fun. And good news for all my fans in the US ‘The Toymaker’ already has a distributor for the States. So in late spring 2017 you’ll be able to watch my work ‘for real’, too.”
On his future plans, Weil said, “I’m definitely planning to spend more time and do more work in London. Also it would still be a dream come true if I’d get to work on a film or Series in the U.S. But of course I’ll also keep my focus on working in Germany, too. I have a wonderful manager and two fantastic talent agents (in London and Munich). They all do an amazing job, so I’m very optimistic that many good projects will come up. And in spring 2017 ‘Sodom’ will have its premier. I’m totally excited about this and can’t wait to show this beautiful film to the world.”
Regarding his hosting, he said, “At the moment I’m the host of ‘Lifestyle with Jo Weil’ on Wirtschaft TV. It’s an online network and the plan is that I’m doing celebrity interviews on red carpets and at big events. We filmed the first interviews on Mallorca in Spain and it was so much fun. I’m really looking forward to filming the next episodes. Next to this there is another hosting-project in the pipeline. It’s a cool new format that will combine some things I personally like very much. So please keep your fingers crossed that we’ll start filming sometime soon.”
Weil continued, “My main focus in 2016 was to push my English-speaking acting work and to spend some time living in London. Both was successful — but cost me a lot of energy. Next to doing all my ‘normal’ projects in Germany there was almost no time left to pursue my singing career. If I do something I want to be able to give it a hundred percent of my energy. So I decided to give my music some rest and to focus on acting and hosting. But I really hope that in 2017 there will be some time to record new songs.”
For his fans, Weil concluded, “Thank you so much for all your support. Working in this business can be very challenging and hard at some points. It’s always great to know that I have all these wonderful people who have my back. This means a lot to me. And for everyone who has a chance to watch German Television: on November 8th my episode “Die Rückkehr der Schwester” (aka “The return of the sister”) of “Die Rosenheim-Cops” will have it’s TV-premiere at 7.25 p.m. on ZDF. I’m not allowed to tell anything about the character I’m playing, but I can promise that it’s going to be fun to watch. So don’t miss it!”
