Wantagh - On November 26, veteran comedian Jim Breuer sat down and chatted with me prior to his show at Mulcahy's Pub and Concert Hall.
He performed at Mulcahy's with his band The Loud and Rowdy. "It always feels good being home. Doesn't matter where I am home, but especially Mulcahy's. Now I get to do the band stuff and what I'm gearing up to tour with next year, so this is a perfect place to work it out," he said.
Breuer shared that tonight he was going to be performing tunes from his album Songs from the Garage, coupled with his stand-up comedy. He noted that he filmed a part of his music video for "Old School" at The Paramount, and that song is going to be in his set-list tonight.
Regarding his plans for the future, he said, "Hopefully to tour this whole next year. Maybe we will do shows here, or The Paramount. I'm in the Paramount in February. I would like to tour. What you are seeing here tonight is completely raw, and production starts in Las Vegas in February, so if people want to make it a Super Bowl weekend, they should come out to Vegas on February 3 and 4."
His songwriting and stand-up comedy are inspired by family and life. "They keep me going in life. A lot of it is family, and you'll see that with the songs," he said.
For aspiring comics and singers, he recommended for them to "Be original and keep writing." Breuer defined the word success as follows: "It definitely doesn't mean leather pants and a kangaroo."
