Actor Sam Medina discusses ‘Mile 22,’ working with Mark Wahlberg (Includes interview)

In Mile 22, Medina plays the villain character Axel. On working with Wahlberg, Medina said, “That was so surreal. You can pinch me every day. It was an amazing experience, and one of my best projects so far. Working with director Peter Berg was great too. It couldn’t have been any better.”

Regarding his plans for the future, Medina said, “I have two more films coming out: Venom with Tom Hardy, and Alita: Battle Angel, which was written by James Cameron and Robert Rodriguez. I can’t say enough good things about Tom Hardy. Also, I am writing as we speak. I have my first feature at the end of this year. My plan is to venture into directing feature films full-time.”

Digital transformation of the entertainment business

On the impact of technology on the film and TV business, Medina said, “Change with technology is inevitable. I knew it would happen and I am fine with it. I was a producer of rap music, and it was the same way. Everything went online. We are living in a time where everything is online. We shouldn’t complain about it since we can’t stop it. Do what you can, and do what you love. If you love what you do, you may not get paid for it, but at the end of the day, you are blessed.”

Medina continued, “I also write, so I have my own content that I can use. That’s what you have to do as an entrepreneur, and a businessman, it’s about diversifying your portfolio, and making it better for you.”

For his fans, he concluded about Mile 22, “Hang on to your feet. You are in for a hell of a ride. It is nonstop action. I am excited for the fans to see this action-packed film. Peter Berg and Mark Wahlberg are a dynamic duo. I couldn’t be happier to be part of such an amazing team. They put a great project together. It is going to kick ass. It has all of the dynamics of what an action-packed film should be.”
