On playing Michael “Riz” Ariza in Mayans MC, Jaramillo said, “It was thrilling to play the role of Michael ‘Riz’ Ariza and to be a part of such a cool and exciting show with such a dedicated fanbase from Sons of Anarchy.”
Jaramillo continued, “There are a lot of aspects about the show that I love but I especially love the style. The tone, the music, the writing, and the colors are all amazing to me. I also appreciate the fact that the cast is almost entirely Hispanic as well. Things are going to get a bit spicy.”
On his plans for the future, Jaramillo said, “I will continue to be a part of Mayans MC and whenever possible continue to do live theatre. In fact, I would love to be on Broadway and I believe I will get there one day, but for now, I’m dedicated to being ‘Riz’ in Mayans MC.”
Digital transformation of acting and entertainment
On the impact of technology on the acting and entertainment industry, he said, “I think technology has given us more choices than ever. Now, anyone can choose from hundreds of shows and watch a full season of their favorite show in a day or two if they want to.”
When asked about his use of technology in his daily routine as an actor, Jaramillo said, “Personally, I am not very good with technology. As of recently, I have mastered the toaster and finally figured out how to work the VCR. But I understand the importance of all of this wonderful technology, especially social media platforms that allow us to be directly connected to our fans and the people who enjoy our work.”
His advice for younger actors is as follows: “Do the work and don’t take shortcuts. Be disciplined, be patient and stay focused on the work. You also need to read, read and read some more. Fall in love with words.”
For his dedicated fans and viewers, Jaramillo concluded about Mayans MC, “To all the fans who are anxiously awaiting Mayans MC, I would say you are going to love the show. There is nothing like it on TV, and it is damn sexy cool. Buckle up because it’s going to be a wild and bumpy ride.”
